Absent: Excused Absent: Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by the president, Senator Amada Gray. Approval of Minutes: Senator Tyrone Smith made motion to accept minutes from previous meeting, and Senator Nicole Wendt second, all in favor said I and the motion passed. Committees Reports: STANDING COMMITTEES: Legislative: No report. Research & Development: Reported that there will be a meeting Tuesday March 15, 2005 concerning whats on its agenda. Community Relations: Reported it has raised $92.07 hitherto with Suicide Prevention Fund fundraiser; that it plan to call local businesses for donations and to have silent auctions. And that the committee is still looking for volunteers to help. Professional Standards: No report. OTHERS: SLC/ASSB: No report. SUBCOMMITTEES: Senate Bonding: No report. Treasurers Report: Senator Parker-Perry reported Office Supplies, Special Projects, and Legislative Projects accounts had a combined beginning balance of $4,768.85 and an ending balance of $3,926.84. And for Fundraising, general, and Officer Copier accounts she reported a beginning balance of $1,000.27 and ending balance of $1,063.19. She reported for an ending balance of all six (6) accounts, a grand total of $6,149.39 Old Business: New Business: Ethnic Fest: Cheri Abu invited Senators to attend any or all events given for the cause, and if possible (because the other school organizations are), could the Milwaukee Student Senate sponsor some of the events taking placea listing of the dates will be posted on the school bulletin boards Student Senate Column with times: Senator Adam Richter presented that he was planning to take the appropriate steps to see can the Student Senate get a monthly column in the school newspaper. A motion was made by Senator Nicole Wendt to have a special committee formed to handle the times issue after the demise of the Grand Ball special committee. Journal Sentinel: Senator Adam Richter said he was going to do some research to find out why the school stopped having newspaper delivered to the school, and that if it is possible, he will be working on putting the paper delivery back into effect. He then made motion to have the issue sent to Research & Development and the motion was second by Senator Nicole Wendt, all in favor said I, and motion passed. Easter Basket: Was to be ousted from the agenda until next year, due to short time span in trying to get it off the ground. Lunch with new Senators: Senators Nicole Wendt and Adam Richter reported that they had the idea of whenever new senators arrived, all senators should get together by throwing a get-together-party and this will allow senators to meet all other senators being the fact some senators never see others due to schedule differentiations. Co-sponsor Teach-in, Speak-out: Guest/Visitor Sue spoke on the fact that this was a cause speaking out on the War In Iraq that talks will be given March 16, 2005 in which the Student Senate is welcome to come and help sponsor, that other organizations are supporting and sponsoring the cause. A motion then was made by Senator Wendt for the Student Senate to support and/or sponsor both, Ethnic Fest and Teach-in, Speak-out, all in favor said I, and motion passed. Smoke Free Project: Guest/Visitor Sue alleged that she (and others) wanted to propose a plan to have smoking banned from the main entrances of the building(s), that she respectfully asked the Student Senate support them with the proposal and educational campaign.
