Absent Senators: Davis, K.; Ornelas, C.; Pernell, M.; Pollesch, N.; and Smith, B Excused Absent: Call to Order: Senator/President Gray A. called meeting to order at approximately 1:40 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Senator /Vice President Richter, A. made motion to approve corrections to the October 28, 2004 minutes, and Senator Bledsoe second that motion. Senator/Vice President made motion to approve the November 12, 2004 minutes, and that motion was second b y Senator Smith, T. Committee Reports: STANDING COMMITTEES: Legislative Report No report Research and Development Senator/Vice-President Richter reported that in regards to the erail issue, that committee is still researching and collecting data/information and will deliver amore detailed report from research at next general assembly meeting. He reported that the issue concerning the stop on 8th & Highland Avenue was RESOVLED because county/city is in process of installing stoplights in that area, therefore there would be no further investigation into that matter. He reported that there was no report on the bus ticket/pass issue - and that if any Senator have an inquiry for the Research and Development Committee, they should fill out and submit information request to that committee. Community Relation No report Professional Standards No report Senate Bonding - No report OTHERS: Subcommittees - No reports SLC/ASSB Senator/President Gray, A. and Senator Bledsoe, T. reported that during their attendance (on behalf of MSS) at Student Life Committee (SLC) meeting a one Dan Ryan and Carol Seaman (who represented Child Care) was seeking some $100,000 to help fund Child Care cause; they were asking each campus to donate these funds, in which a vote was taken and passed for each campus to carry the inquisition of Child Care back to the Student Senate and make determination on whether funds should be donated, and if so how much and the specification of what funds should be used for. That 65% of Student Children Enrollment is here at Milwaukee Campus, 70-75% at the North Campus, 75-80% at West Campus, and 100% at South Campus. Treasurer report: Senator /President Gray, A. reporting for Senator Parker-Perry (wholl arrive at meeting at 2:00 p.m.), reported the total beginning balance for MSS six (6) monetary accounts is $5,769.12 and the ending balance is $5,734.12 Old Business: Children Breakfast with Santa MSS Advisor Croskey, H. spoke on what need to be done at the event and the responsibility of all Senators in order to facilitate the event on December 4, 2004 New Business: Child Care Senator/ President Gray, A. reiterated information on this events funding request; then Senator Cortez, F. made motion to fund Child Care, and that motion was second by Senator Parker-Parry. Motion was made by Senator/Vice-President Richter to establish a ceiling of $25,000 to be donated to Child Care for their cause; that motion was second by Senator Cortez, F. After the matter was voted upon, a majority agreed to establish the ceiling cap presented and motion passed. Motion was made by Senator/President Gray, A. for the $25,000 to be used for Educational purposes only, and that motion was second by Senator Wendt, N.; however, Senator Bledsoe, T. RESPECTFULLY ASKED Senator Gray, A. to amend Grays initial motion to include (for specification) puzzles, games, dolls, puppets, and furnishings as educational tools for the children; Senator Gray, A. CORDIALLY ACCEPTED Senators Bledsoes request, the matter was voted on, majority agreed, motion passed. WSG MSS Advisor Croskey, H. spoke on the requirements of applying to become a potential candidate for trip to Madison; the matter was open for candidates to enter their names to be voted as candidate - after lengthy debatable discussion concerning candidates and votes, the issue as tabled until next general assembly meeting. Announcement: If any Senator have an issue with situations around the school campus - or just want to make some changes around the campus, they should contact Archie Graham, Director of MMS/Milwaukee Student Life. All Active Senators unless excused are at attend the Breakfast with Santa event on December 4th, 2004 and should arrive early as possible for setup.
